Millions of people up and down the country celebrated the news with bonfires, bunting, parades and dancing. Services are taking place honouring the bravery, heroic efforts and sacrifices that were made, however with the current situation, please make the most of the day and celebrate the national event by holding celebrations at home, hanging the bunting in windows and union jacks flying.
There will be a moments silence at 11am and amongst a day of events The Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will fly over Buckingham Palace in the day. There will also be a toast to people who lived and died during the war at 3 pm, with those taking part asked to say: "To those who gave so much, we thank you."
